What I use to run this site
I use a multitude of free and not free programs to run this site.
The main site is run using Wordpress, a popular blogging platform. I use the Red Business theme (with a few tweaks). I use the Newsletter plugin to maintain my mailing list.
On my personal webpage, I also use Twitter.
My scheduling is done with HitAppoint.
When I get feedback from my prep sessions and study groups, I use LimeSurvey.
I made the logo myself in Adobe Photoshop.
My websites are hosted at NearlyFreeSpeech.net and also A2 Hosting. My email is through Tuffmail.
I also use Moodle for organizing the videos and resources for the study groups and prep sessions.
I use also use Payloadz for delivering some videos.
My posters were made with Adobe InDesign. My sister, mother, father and girlfriend helped, too (since they’re much more graphically inclined than I am). They also listen to my ideas and give me their thoughts on them. So do Laura and Carrie, but they might not want me to link to their photos.
My videos are tweaked and edited using Adobe Premiere.
Some of the graphs on the formula sheets were made using Graph. I used OpenOffice.org to type up the formula sheets. I convert the documents into pdfs using PdfCreator. All of my formula sheets are produced under a Creative Commons License. I use MathType along with a plugin for OpenOffice to typeset the mathematical formulas on the formula sheets. I use the Delicious font a lot on the formula sheets because I think it looks really sharp.
I keep track of how many people visit the site with StatCounter.
If you notice any broken links, spelling errors or anything else that slipped by me, please let me know (jeff@londonmathtutor.com).
